Glass costs move with the exchange rate and with supply, and a number published today would mislead you next month. What does not change is what drives the cost — and once you understand that, you can judge any quote you are given.
1. Your vehicle is most of the price
The glass itself is the largest part of any windscreen bill, and glass is priced by how hard it is to make and how many are in the country. A Suzuki Alto, Mehran or Cultus screen is a simple, flat-ish, high-volume part — it sits at the affordable end. A Toyota Fortuner, Honda Civic, Kia Sportage or an imported European car costs substantially more, because the part is larger, more curved, and far less common.

3. OEM versus cheap local glass
This is where the biggest price gaps come from, and where most people get burned. A quote that is dramatically below everyone else is almost always non-standard glass.
The saving is real on the day and expensive afterwards. Poor-quality glass distorts at the edges so you get eye strain on long drives, it can yellow or haze in Lahore sun, and it often does not seat properly — which is where water leaks, wind noise and a screen that pops in a hard knock come from. You then pay a second time to have it done properly.
4. Adhesive and labour
Proper urethane adhesive and primer are a genuine cost, and they are the difference between glass that is bonded to your car and glass that is stuck to it. A workshop shaving money here is shaving your structural safety, because that bond is what holds the screen in place during a rollover and what the passenger airbag pushes against.

Does insurance cover it?
If your car is on a comprehensive policy, auto glass is often covered — but the details matter. Check whether your policy has a separate glass excess, whether claiming affects your no-claims discount, and whether the insurer requires you to use a panel workshop. For a modestly priced screen, many owners find the excess is close to the repair cost and simply pay directly. We can provide a proper invoice for any claim you do make.
A cheap screen is the most expensive one
The single most common job we are called out for is not a stone chip. It is redoing somebody else's work — a leaking screen, a whistling top edge, a distorted view, or glass that was never bonded correctly. You pay for the bad screen, then you pay for the correct one, and in between you drove a car whose roof support and airbag backboard were not up to spec.
Buy the right glass once. It is the cheaper path, and it is the only one that is actually safe.
